Wandersong is a game by Greg Lobanov, Em Halberstadt, and Gordon McGladdery. It was released on September 27th, 2018 for PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch. [1] It later received a PS4 release on January 22nd, 2019 [2] and an Xbox One release on December 6th, 2019. [3]
Story[]
Wandersong is a game where you play as a small Bard in a big world that's about to end. According to an Angel, the world was sung into existence by the goddess Eya, who will soon sing her song again, replacing the current universe with a new one. The Bard, with the help of a grumpy witch named Miriam, must go around the world to find the pieces of a song that could save the world.
Gameplay[]
The player takes control of the Bard, who can move around, dance, and sing. The singing wheel is the main component of interaction in the game. It consists of eight sections, each segment representing a different note that the Bard sings. Singing is useful for solving puzzles, making friends, and being creative!
The game is accessible to both colorblind and deaf players through its reliance on directional hints rather than colored or musical hints.
Development[]
Wandersong was developed in GameMaker Studio by Greg Lobanov. The game was inspired by a 5,000 mile bike trip across the United States. It began development in October 2015. Greg opened a Kickstarter for the game, which raised $21,936 from 989 backers by February 2016.[4] After this, Greg brought in Em Halberstadt for sound design, and Gordon McGladdery, a.k.a. A Shell in the Pit, for music.[1]
